Breathe In: The Story Behind Spring Clearing
Share
There is a specific kind of morning that belongs only to spring. The window is open. The air coming in is cool and slightly damp, carrying the smell of wet earth and new leaves and something green and alive that does not have a name. You breathe it in and something in you settles - something that had been held tight all winter. That is Spring Clearing.

The Inspiration
Every collection needs a fresh note - a fragrance that does the work of the season at its most elemental, that captures the feeling of opening up after a long close. Spring Clearing is that candle. We developed it as an antidote to everything heavy: not a rejection of warmth, but a celebration of lightness.
The inspiration came from a specific image: a clearing in a wood on an early spring morning. The trees around the edge are still bare enough to let the light through, but there is green on the forest floor - new growth pushing through, ferns uncurling, moss bright with recent rain. The air is clean in a way that indoor air never quite is. The whole space smells of beginning.
We wanted to recreate that feeling in a candle. Not a replica of the natural world, but something that summons the emotional quality of it: the lightness, the clarity, the sense that something has just been washed clean.
The Fragrance

Spring Clearing opens with eucalyptus and kaffir lime - two notes that are immediately, unmistakably fresh. There is nothing soft or tentative about this opening. It arrives cleanly and fills the room with a green, watery brightness that feels like the olfactory equivalent of opening all the windows at once. Bright lime adds a subtle sharpness that lifts everything further.
As the fragrance settles, green tea notes emerge in the heart, adding an herbal quality that gives Spring Clearing its character. This is not the medicinal sharpness of menthol, but something gentler and more sophisticated - the way tea smells when it has just been brewed, clean and slightly astringent, with a natural complexity that synthetic notes cannot replicate.
The base is white musk and soft cedarwood - minimal, clean, and lasting. These base notes do not add complexity so much as they extend what is already there, allowing the fresh, green heart notes to linger far longer than they would without support. The effect is a fragrance that cleans as it burns: rooms smell noticeably brighter and more alive after Spring Clearing has been lit for an hour or two.
This is one of the most genuinely unisex fragrances we have made. It does not lean floral, sweet, or heavily woody. It simply smells clean - and clean, done well, is one of the most sophisticated things a fragrance can be.
Why We Made This Fragrance
When we were developing the spring collection, we knew that not everyone reaches for something romantic or warm when the season changes. For many people - particularly those who have spent the winter surrounded by heavy, dark, warming scents - spring is first and foremost about freshness. About clearing out. About starting again.
Spring Clearing was made for that impulse. For the person who opens every window in the house on the first warm day. For the person who does a deep clean in April not because she has to, but because it makes her feel genuinely better. For anyone who has noticed that their mood is different in a clean, airy space than in a dark, cluttered one - and wants their candle to actively contribute to the former.
There is also a practical consideration. Heavy fragrances - gourmands, orientals, deep florals - can feel oppressive in a room during warmer months. Spring Clearing is designed to be worn lightly, to lift rather than layer, to work with open windows rather than fight them. It is a spring candle in the most literal sense: it works best when spring is happening around it.
The Candle
Spring Clearing is hand-poured into a sustainably sourced wooden container, decorated with elegant green botanicals - a surface decoration that is as clean and minimal as the fragrance itself. Against the pale cream soy wax, the green botanicals look almost architectural: precise, considered, quietly beautiful.
Natural soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance, wooden bowl built for repurposing. Everything you would expect from Foxwood & Bramble - and a scent experience unlike anything else in the collection.
How to Use It
Light Spring Clearing first thing in the morning, with the kitchen or living room window cracked open. Let it run for two to three hours while you go about your morning, and come back to a room that smells genuinely cleaner and more alive than when you left it. It also works beautifully in a bathroom or home office - anywhere that benefits from a feeling of freshness and clarity.
This is the candle to burn when you are starting something: a new week, a new project, a new chapter. Let it mark the beginning.
