Paraffin wax has been the standard wax used in candles for decades, as it’s the most affordable and widely available. However, it is a by-product of petroleum, a non-renewable fossil fuel. This makes it a less environmentally friendly option.

Soy wax is a more recent alternative made from soybean oil: a natural, plant-based source.

Soy wax is also biodegradable, meaning any wax spills can be quickly cleaned up with warm, soapy water, unlike paraffin wax, which can be difficult to remove.

Similarly, soy wax candles hold and release fragrance more effectively than paraffin, meaning the scent lasts longer and disperses more gradually throughout the room.
